Digital inspection: : RoVis as a colleague in the VISION system
With SCIIL’s VISION system, the collaboration between humans and AI in visual quality control takes center stage. The VISION system from SCIIL AG brings artificial intelligence to the store floor – not as a replacement for humans, but as an intelligent colleague. The focus is on RoVis, the Robot Vision Assistant: an AI-supported solution for automated defect detection that makes visual inspections more efficient, objective and traceable – across industries and product types.
AI recognizes, humans decide
RoVis “sees” reliably – but it is the human being who understands the context. This is because not every detected defect is automatically relevant: Some defects may be within tolerance, others must be deliberately documented or manually reworked. This is precisely why workers remain an integral part of the test station.
Humans train AI – simple, practical, efficient
VISION AI is not trained externally, but directly in the factory – by the most experienced employees. They highlight examples that are relevant for the quality assessment. This is quick, visual and requires little training.
This creates an AI that understands the real quality standards of the plant. The assessment is standardized, comprehensible and auditable. Instead of individual decisions, there is clarity. This saves discussions, secures customer requirements and ensures consistent quality.
Manual or automatic fault detection? – as required!
VISION has a modular structure: Fully automatic stations with RoVis inspect dynamic and static features, while supplementary manual inspection stations are used specifically where human judgment is particularly valuable – for example, when verifying automatically detected defects, for complex visual inspections or for special releases according to customer-specific defect catalogs.
This interaction between humans and AI in visual quality control not only ensures greater process reliability, but also sustainable standardization. By learning the knowledge of the most experienced employees and making it reproducible, AI creates a quality process that is efficient, stable and traceable at all times – a real advantage for series production and customer requirements.
AI-supported testing is a benefit for quality and customer satisfaction
AI-supported testing not only ensures less testing effort and error rates – but also more satisfied end customers who can clearly see that their quality requirements are being met. Because the combination of AI and human expertise creates the best of both worlds.
